Numbers

This life is full of numbers. Some of them absolutely crucial and some that are as fleeting as a butterfly. The numbers start even before you are born.

Let’s start at the beginning with the number 40. That’s full term pregnancy. (I didn’t know that until I was grown) It takes 40 weeks to make a person from scratch. That is purely amazing to me, and makes it awfully hard for me to understand people that don’t believe in God.

How about the number 13. Some think it’s bad luck, some think it is just a number, and I think on average it is how many years you spend making it through school. For some of us those are some of the most wonderful years of our life, for some it is harder.

How about 24? 24 is a very busy number. In Math it is the smallest number with eight divisors. In science it is the atomic number of chromium. In Revelation 4:4 “around the throne there were 24 other thrones, seated on them were the 24 elders. They wore white with crowns of gold on their heads”. And in day to day life it is the amount of hours it takes to make up one day.

During that day we are given that time each day to make a difference. To change our lives or the lives of others. You are given 86,400 seconds in which to do good for someone. How do you spend that time? How are we spending our time to share the love of God with people around us? How many of those 86,400 moments are wasted doing something inconsequential? It literally takes less than a second to say hey, less time than that to smile at someone having a hard day, you could show God’s love in less than a second.

Today use those seconds to change someone’s life. If you do it out of love yours will almost always be the life you change. I love you.
